As part of our Rights Respecting work and our commitment to becoming responsible local, national and global citizens, each class chooses a charity to learn about and support. Learning about different charities is a wonderful way of learning about the world, and of thinking about those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Not only do our children learn about the good work undertaken by their class charities, they also engage in fundraising and campaigning on their charity’s behalf.
In 2020 -2021, despite COVID restrictions and lockdowns, our classes raised £2431.59 for their chosen charities.
This year, our classes have chosen to support a wonderfully diverse range of charities:
EYFS: The RSPCA
Class 3: Durham Wildlife Trust
Class 4: Save the Children
Class 5: Help for Heroes
Class 6: RNLI
Class 7: Place 2Be
Class 8: The Salvation Army
Class 9: The Wear River Trust
Class 10: World Wildlife Fund
Class 11: Hope 4 Kidz
Class 12: East Durham Trust
