Reception – Classes 1 & 2
Welcome to Reception – Classes 1 & 2. The grown-ups in Reception are, Mrs Hutchinson & Miss Devine (C1) and Miss Case & Mrs Lockey (C2). Here you will find an overview of our year; our themes build across the year and we continue to follow lines of enquiry from children’s fascinations and interests. We look forward to beginning our learning journey with you!
In Reception, our main basis for learning is through play and exploration. However, we do offer discrete teaching sessions to ensure our children become successful, independent learners. We have chosen predictable themes and topics alongside texts that children may be interested in as a hook for our planning. Lots of our planning in Reception is ‘in the moment’, based on what our children are showing interest in or are curious about.
A typical day in Reception | |
8.45am: Greetings | Children will find their names and use our self-registration station to show they are here. Children will independently put coats & bags on pegs and head to the carpet to participate in a morning activity whilst waiting for the rest of their class. |
