Homework

Out homework policy aims to ensure the work we ask children to do at home builds upon their basic. skills. From September 2020 homework will be set and submitted on Class Dojo. For more information on Class Dojo click here

  • Children in EYFS will be given phonics homework every week. Children may also be given activities to do at home linked to their topic or maths work. Homework will be set every Friday to be completed for the following Friday.
  • Children in Y1 – Y4 will be set a weekly maths task on a Friday to be completed by the following Thursday.
  • Children in EYFS – Y4 will be given an exercise book, to make notes and complete the homework tasks. Children do not need to bring these books back into school but will use the text and photo functions on Class Dojo to submit their work.
  • Children in Y5 and 6 will be given CGP work books for Reading, SPaG and Maths. Children will be set tasks on Class Dojo, which link to pages in these books. Children will need to photograph their completed work and submit these to their teachers on Class Dojo.

Children have all been provided with a reading book from our new scheme ‘Collins Big Cat’. Please encourage children to read at least 3 times per week at home to improve their reading fluency.

Lunchtime Reading and Homework Clubs

There are various opportunities for children who have not completed their homework or required reading at home, or who need extra support with their reading or homework, to obtain additional support during school time. This is usually over the lunchtime period.

Children who would like a quiet space to read during the lunchtime break are also welcome to attend a lunchtime club.

If you have any questions about our homework policy, please ask your child’s teacher.
